Dear readers,
I had the pleasure of chairing the recent statutory meetings of our Association, which were held in Yokohama, Japan. They allowed to measure the extent of the subjects on which our members want the Association to work and develop new knowledge products, whether technical reports, fact sheets, seminars or conferences. These many expectations once again justify the very existence of our Association, as well as the relevance of our positioning on all subjects related to road and transport. It is up to us to structure these expectations into a coherent and ambitious programme, but also realistic and achievable.

Road workers' protection
The French Ministry of Transport has launched a prevention campaign that calls on road users to change their behaviour, to contribute to the safety of people who work daily by the roadside.
This is a subject on which PIARC has already mobilised its experts. A report with concrete recommendations, entitled "Improvements in safe working on roads", was published in 2012. It is part of the Association's knowledge base, along with many other technical reports and the Online manual.
