The World Road Association actively participated in the 98th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) held in Washington, D.C. (United States of America) from 13 to 17 January 2019. More than 10,000 participants from the United States of America and around the world gathered as every year to discuss all topics related to road, rail and air transport. In particular, this meeting is at the crossroads of research and practice: what new scientific results are ready to be implemented, what new research must be undertaken to meet the needs of users and contracting authorities?

Death of the Mayor of Gda?sk (Poland)

Mr. Pawe? Adamowicz, 53, mayor of Gdansk since 1998, died suddenly on 14 January 2019 following a knife attack the day before by a repeat offender while chairing a charity gala. He had warmly and effectively hosted the XVth International Winter Road Congress, from 20 to 23 February 2018 in a city that he had profoundly transformed and modernized in 20 years of municipal mandate. The World Road Association joins in the grief of his loved ones, the people of Gdansk and Poland, who paid tribute to him with a national day of mourning.

12th ASTRAD Symposium and "Austrokommunal 2019" trade fair on Road Management and Winter Service 

Wels (Austria), 15 and 16 May 2019

The 12th edition of the ASTRAD Symposium on Road Management and Winter Service will take place on 15 and 16 May 2019 in Wels, Upper Austria. More than 150 exhibitors and 3,000 professionals are expected to attend this biennial "Austrian Winter Road Congress". New equipment and techniques for road operation and winter maintenance will be presented during several technical sessions and on 20,000 m² of exhibition space (indoor and outdoor) with free access for registered visitors.
