It seems relevant to mention two recent technical meetings. The SURF conference, organised by Politecnico di Milano with the support of ANAS, brought together more than 300 people from 12 to 14 September in Milan to discuss pavement surfaces and road asset management. The French PIARC National Committee organised a seminar on winter service which attracted more than 60 French experts to Chambéry on 26 and 27 September. Through the richness of the exchanges they generated, these two events, among many others, once again demonstrated two essential points. >> Read the full editorial

Two of our Commissions gathered in September
Strategic
Plan: 15-16 September, Milan (Italy) Communication:
22 September, online As usual, the
Strategic Planning Commission and the Communication Commission reviewed
activities that are conducted by the various bodies of the Association:
Committees, the General Secretariat, National Committees. An
important topic addressed by the members of both Commissions was the strategy
of the Association. In fact, our Executive Committee is now actively preparing
our 2024-2027 cycle, and our Council will be soon invited to discuss future
directions and to approve the list of future Committees for the 2024-2027 work
cycle.
These two meetings demonstrate that the members
of the Association are in the driving seat when it comes to the strategy of the
Association!

XXV edition of the Slovak Road Workers' Days event
8-9
September 2022, Prešov (Slovakia) This month,
the Slovak Road Association held the 25th edition of the Slovak Road
Workers' Days event in Prešov. Nearly 200 participants welcomed representatives
of foreign delegations from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and
Ukraine. Besides the
presenting new information and knowledge, one of the objectives of the event was to present the difficult work of road workers who carry out road maintenance
and repairs. Another goal was to encourage the competition between individuals
and teams, that is why a competition in winter maintenance driving skills and a
football competition were also included in the program. The
professional part of the program was focused mainly on the diagnostics of roads
and bridges and the preparation of experts´ participation at the World Road
Congress in Prague.
