PIARC’s Secretary General showcases innovation and global collaboration at TRB Annual Meeting

PIARC’s Secretary General had been invited by the USA’s Transportation Research Board to join their Chair’s Plenary Session. This is one of the prestigious sessions of this event, which attracts 12 to 15 000 delegates from the USA and from all over the world every year.

Washington DC, January 5–9, 2025

Patrick Malléjacq was able to present PIARC, our extensive work on innovation, and our priorities and ongoing work for this work cycle. Participating in this session was an honour and an excellent opportunity to promote our Association and to engage with TRB and other partners such as IRF, UITP and the World Bank.

During this short trip to Washington, D.C., PIARC’s Secretary General also joined the TRB’s International Coordination Council, to present our first published report of the cycle, on the transport agency of the future, to promote our upcoming 17th World Winter Service and Road Resilience Congress and to garner interest for Foresight Sessions. He also engaged with many of the very active experts appointed by the USA to PIARC Technical Committees, to discuss ongoing projects such as the updates to the online road safety manual. PIARC was also very visible at the TRB’s Annual Meeting thanks to a great workshop on decarbonization, co-organised by Matt Daus, who sits on our Committee 1.1 on the Performance of Transport Administrations.
