  • Definition : Depth, in tenths of a millimetre, to which a standard needle penetrates a sample of bitumen under standardized conditions of load, temperature, and time. Note: the harder the bitumen, the lower the penetration value.

  • Definition : Die Tiefe, in Zehntel eines Millimeters, in die eine Standardnadel in eine Probe aus Bitumen unter Standardbedingungen hinsichtlich Last, Temperatur und Zeit eindringt. Je härter das Bitumen desto niedriger ist der Penetrationswert.
