International Seminar "Issues for sustainable roads and ecoinfrastructures: new challenges in the context of Energy and Climate"
18-19 May 2021, online organised from Lublin (Poland)
This international seminar was organized in cooperation with the Techical Committee 3.4 "Environmental Sustainability in Road Infrastructure and Transport" of PIARC, the Polish Road Congress (PKD) – Polish National Committee of PIARC, the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) and the Department of Roads and Bridges of the Lublin University of Technology.
Although the city of Lublin (Poland), was selected as the seminar location, it has been decided that it would take place in a virtual format due to the COVID-19 crisis. The seminar was held on 18 and 19 May 2021.
The aim of this event was to facilitate an open and constructive dialogue between researchers and practitioners based on research and practical experience, which fosters a better understanding of the sustainability of roads and ecoinfrastructures in the context of energy transition and climate change.
Researchers and practitioners from all countries, especially PIARC member countries, were expected to attend the seminar and to contribute in the domain of the following sub-topics:
- Impact of roads and traffic on the environment
- Methods and devices protecting human and natural environment
- The impact of climate change on roads resilience and sustainability
- New technologies, materials, trends
- COVID-19 impact on human and natural environment
