Term of the Road Dictionary

profile depth

  • Language : PIARC Road Dictionary / English
  • Theme : Operations Road Surface Characteristics
  • Definition : Difference between the profile and a horizontal line through the highest peak (the peak level) within a distance along the surface of the same order of length as a tyre/pavement interface. Note: this is a two-dimensional case, whereas texture depth and mean texture depth refer to three-dimensional cases [ISO].

  • Theme : Betrieb Fahrbahneigenschaften
  • Definition : Differenz zwischen dem Profil und einer horizontalen Linie durch die höchsten Erhebungen (Ebene der Hochpunkte) innerhalb einer Strecke längs der Oberfläche mit derselben Länge wie die Reifen/Befestigung-Kontaktfläche. Beachte:
    1. Dies ist ein zweidimensionale Größe, wohingegen Rautiefe und mittlere Rautiefe als dreidimensionale Größen anzusehen sind.
    2. Die mittlere Profiltiefe (MPT) wird im Allgemeinen als Mittelwert über eine 100 mm lange Grundlinie ausgedrückt.
