Claude Van Rooten
Honorary president

The annual meetings in Andorra led to the election of a new Executive Committee for our association. On this occasion, I had the pleasure of being named Honorary President after more than 20 years serving in our management bodies. It’s an opportunity to reflect briefly on the past but, more importantly, to look ahead.

Thanks to the remarkable perseverance of our experts, our association successfully navigated the COVID period and completed most of its work. The Prague Congress was a great success, and I am confident that the Chambéry Congress in 2026 will be equally successful, with preparations well underway and strong collaboration from many Technical Committees, as evidenced by the detailed session program.

Looking to the future, we face several challenges that must be addressed promptly. The financial situation of our association requires optimizing our operations with more limited resources. Nonetheless, we remain committed to our ambitions, continuing to work and engage even more. The family spirit that defines us may not disappear. The human connections were a real joy and added value at our World Congress in Prague, during the meetings in Andorra, and within the Technical Committees.

In recent years, some have suggested prioritizing virtual meetings for understandable economic reasons. However, in-person meetings remain essential to strengthen our family spirit and collaboration. In the future, we must come together even more and form a true team to face the challenges ahead.

I am confident that the new Executive Committee, comprising both returning and new members, will have the courage to implement the necessary reforms while respecting the valuable traditions that bind us. Many proposals were made this year, some of which may seem contradictory, but all share a single goal: ensuring the resilience and effectiveness of our noble association. I am available to contribute to this renewal if needed. As a music lover, let me sing: " We’ll meet again someday, my dear friends".
