As I send you this farewell message as President for the 2022 – 2024 cycle (a term marked by the unexpected visit of a guest named Covid-19), I am overwhelmed by a wave of emotions. Serving as a President of PIARC has been one of the most rewarding professional experiences of my life. It has been a journey of learning, growth and unforgettable memories.

To our Secretary General and his team, you have been the cornerstone of my tenure. Together, we have met unexpected challenges, celebrated successes such as the World Road Congress 2023, welcomed new members to the PIARC family and strengthened partnerships with like-minded organizations.

To my colleagues of the Executive Committee, including past Presidents, your advice and guidance have been invaluable. Not only have you helped me chart the course of our Association, but you have also enriched my vision of the world. Thank you for your confidence, wisdom and remarkable team spirit. It's been a real pleasure working with all of you.

However, this is not a final farewell, as I will continue to sit on the new Executive Committee. I look forward to continuing this relationship, and to witnessing your future successes. I want you to know that you will always have a friend and supporter in me, wherever we may be in the world.

To conclude, I'd like to quote Dr. Seuss: “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it's happened.” By the time you read these words, the festive season may be behind us, but I can't miss the opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a New Year filled with peace, health and happiness. Let us never forget how precious the joy of peace is.
