Increasing customer orientation in the winter maintenance of roads
This report, prepared by Committee 3.4 Winter Maintenance, is based on the responses of 25 countries to a survey of organizations responsible for winter maintenance issues. The information gathered focuses on many topics: how road maintenance is provided in winter, levels of service and categories of maintenance defined for the various types of roadway, communication in the area of level of service and driving conditions, and studies conducted on the expectations expressed by the users.

Snow and ice databook
The Snow and Ice Data Book was first published on the occasion of the XIth International Winter Road Congress, 2002, Sapporo (Japan) and contained information from 15 countries. This book was a valuable tool to support the exchanges of experiences between international experts. For this reason, the PIARC Executive included a revision to this document in its Strategic Plan for the 2004-2007 cycle.
