The road assets management is one of the most demanding challenge for public and private road managers. As a matter of fact, while, on one side, the conventional ageing of the infrastructures, the increasing traffic flows and the natural catastrophic events, show the fragility of transportation network, on the other one, the current limited budgets and growing public demands and expectations, especially in the field of road safety, represent the new challenges for worldwide transportation managers.
