TS2 – Mobility - Mobility and Equity
Spain has an extensive network of infrastructures that allow and make it easier for both citizens and visitors to access their destinations. With regard to land transport, 92.98% of passenger transport occurs by road and 7.02% by rail. When it comes to freight transport, the percentage accounted for by road transport is even higher at 98.55%, with rail accounting for just 1.45%. To this end, Spain has an extensive road network with a length of 165,443 km, equating to a density of 332,243 km of roads for every 1,000 km2. The rail infrastructure is approximately one tenth of this size, with a density of 31,359 km per 1,000 km2. As a result, internal mobility primarily occurs by road.
