The General Report of the Prague 2023 Congress is now available online. This essential document not only summarises the main debates and conclusions, it also charts the course for the next four years in terms of infrastructure and road transport development.
The XXVIIth PIARC World Road Congress was held in Prague, Czech Republic, from 2 to 6 October 2023, under the theme ‘Together on the road again’. The XXVIIth edition of our flagship event was organised in close cooperation between PIARC (World Road Association), the Czech Road Society and PIARC Czech National Committee, with the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Road Association. The Congress attracted 38 ministerial delegates, 229 exhibitors, 28 national pavilions, over 4,000 delegates and 2,000 students from 120 countries. They were able to attend a rich programme including 88 sessions, 16 workshops, 15 technical visits and social events.
Following this major event, which takes place every four years, the General Report of the Congress was prepared by the Czech National Committee of PIARC, it represents a real roadmap that summarises and synthesises the most relevant content of the technical sessions.
This report provides a structured, simple, comprehensive and coherent summary of each technical topic. It explains the origin of the problems addressed, provides a summary of the issues and current developments, the main results, solutions and conclusions. It provides other crucial information, including recommendations for decision-makers, PIARC and other international organisations.

The World Winter Road Congress will be held in Chambéry, France, from 10 to 13 March 2026. The call for papers is currently open until 31 January 2025, and covers topics such as winter road maintenance, resilience and decarbonisation.
In addition, the next World Road Congress will be held in Vancouver, Canada, in 2027.
