  • Review of UK skid resistance policy

    In 2004, the Highways Agency therefore commenced a review to examine all aspects of the skid resistance policy. This paper describes the results of the accident analysis, which has led to a revision of the site categories and ILs and changes to the way that potential maintenance schemes will be evaluated. A database of pavement condition, road geometry, traffic flow and accident data for English trunk roads was constructed for an accident analysis.

  • Impact of Permafrost thaw on airfield and road infrastructures in Nunavik

    Damage to airstrips and access roads has led Ministère des Transports du Québec to take this problem seriously. Research had been undertaken in 2004 to assess current and foreseeable impacts on northern infrastructures, recommend adaptation measures for problem situations, and review airstrip design for future projects.
