Global Insights and Innovations in Transport Asset Management – See You in Arusha!

Published 17 December 2024

PIARC Technical Committee 3.3 “Asset Management”, in partnership with Tanzania's Ministry of Works, the Tanzania Roads Association (TARA), and other local and international bodies, is hosting an International Seminar on Transport asset management in Arusha, Tanzania, from April 9–11, 2025.

With a crucial focus on Transport Asset Management (TAM) — the systematic process of maintaining, upgrading, and operating physical assets effectively and efficiently — this seminar will concentrate on various aspects of TAM, including the latest technologies, best practices and strategies for enhancing decision-making processes.

As road infrastructure faces increasing challenges from aging assets, growing traffic demands, and environmental concerns, effective asset management is critical for national and local governments. By adopting comprehensive TAM practices, countries can enhance sustainability, resilience, and overall performance of their road networks.

The seminar will delve into cutting-edge topics shaping the future of transport asset management. Key themes include innovative approaches to data collection, the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in managing transport assets, enhancing resilience in transport systems, and strategies for renewing and rejuvenating aging infrastructure.

This event is designed to engage a wide range of participants, including transport professionals and managers, policymakers, government officials, academics, researchers, private sector stakeholders, and representatives from international organisations and NGOs working in development and transport.

By bringing together this diverse audience, the seminar aims to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and explore actionable solutions to modern challenges in transport asset management.
